Dispensational Proof 11

11. Isaiah and Jeremiah

The two most voluminous prophets, Isaiah and Jeremiah, have some outstanding passages that show how the dispensational understanding of the mediatorial kingdom of Christ will one day be accomplished. Isaiah chapters 2 and 4 give geographical changes. Chapter 11 gives the blessings of a peaceful kingdom full of changes to human and animal life. Isaiah 24:21-23 matches perfectly with Revelation 19 and 20. Isaiah 24 even declares that angelic beings are judged at the coming of the Messiah and punished after a period of time, then an eternal rule and kingdom is enjoyed. The final sample from Isaiah is chapter 61 which corresponds with Jesus in the synagogue reading the scroll of Isaiah (Luke 4:16-22). This is a great dispensational passage because he shows the two advents of Christ. There is more to come in the way of judgment when Christ returns. He already knew His purpose was to die for the sins of the world so he stopped short of reading the judgment portion because that was not the purpose of His first advent.

Jeremiah includes the new covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-40) in its fullest and original form yet it is still directly born out of the Abrahamic covenant. A permanent recovery of the land is clearly assured in verses 38-40. This supports the dispensational idea of Israel being restored to her land for all eternity. Four times Jeremiah declares that God will not “make an end” of His chosen people regardless of their stubborn obstinance. The first two times were when Jeremiah was proclaiming the impending doom of the Babylonian captivity. The second two look far ahead to “the time of Jacob’s trouble” and the day of the Lord. The passages are Jeremiah 4:27; 5:18; 30:11 and the last one reads as follows.

Do not fear, O Jacob My servant,” says the Lord, “For I am with you; For I will make a complete end of all the nations To which I have driven you, But I will not make a complete end of you. I will rightly correct you, For I will not leave you wholly unpunished.” Jeremiah 46:28 (NKJV)
